Marsh Wren
As their name
implies, these birds inhabit marshes of reeds, bulrushes and cattails. they
feed on snails and insects. Marsh Wrens will destray the eggs of birds nesting
nearby. Including other marsh Wrens and larger blackbirds. The male birds
construct 10 to 20 nests but most go unused. These nests seem to be used
as a way to impress females. Once she begins to lay eggs the polygamist
male will seek out another mate.
This bird
is depicted in low flight on a natural branch with a simply elegant
un-breakable poly-carbon base. It is made from aluminum and has one piece
wings. Like all of Daniel's sculptures, this is a hand crafted one of kind
original. Purchase includes a letter of authenticity signed by the artist.
