Wood Duck
The glossy irridecent
plumage of the Wood Duck with the eyes and bill that shine with colors of red,
black, white, brown, sienna, blue and green, have caused many to vote this the
most beautiful duck in the world. Fifty years ago it was nearly extinct in the
United States because of habitat and nest site loss. Now the Wood Duck is plentiful
largely due to the efforts of duck hunters.
